Art's in Carlsbad Springs to Larry & Debbie's in Gloucester
Worst. Sleep. Ever.
We had the fire going last night to dry all our stuff, but the consequences was the cabin getting super hot. So to fix that we decided to open the door. Bad idea. We ended up all dyeing of heat as well as got eaten alive by mosquitos. It was one of those nights where even though I was exhausted, I didn't feel tired. Finally fell asleep around 1:30am which is very late for me. Especially because I knew we had to get up at 6am.

We all tossed and turned all night. So when Art knocked on the door with a big pot of coffee in his hand, we were all super happy and thankful.
I don't think the horses slept well either. There was a pool of mosquitos all around them, it was disgusting. And fly spray doesn't really do much. Just a sense of comfort thinking we are helping them.

Art said he could drive our packs which meant we were on our way by 8:30.
It was a cloudy day, but better than being humid and hot. We will always take clouds over sun as long as it doesn't rain. Expect it did rain today, but only for a little bit so that was fine.
It was getting pretty annoying to be on a busy road. The shoulder was super big so that wasn't problem, it just gets irritating knowing everyone who passes is looking at you. I feel like I always have eyes on me and have no privacy. That's something that's been tough, never having a place to go be alone that is your own place. But I'll deal.
Before crossing an intersection, Joseph grabbed us some subs for lunch and we met this guy who asked where we were going, we explained and he said there was a trail coming up. Awesome! Turns out that's what my map had anyway, but it was nice to know for sure that we were heading to a quiet, forested trail.
We sat down for not even 5 minutes when CTV called and asked if they could do an interview now. I guess Joseph had contacted them yesterday and they liked the story so decided to come today.
They met us in the parking lot before the trail and interviewed us all separately. I went first. Since it was short notice, I didn't have time to be nervous really, and one of the biggest things that's improved for me is my confidence. Most of the time though I just pretend I'm not scared and have all he confidence in the world, that usually works for the most part.
Katie (the interviewer) asked some questions, mostly ones we've got before, but I still always feel like I don't answer them the best I could, or I always leave out information I knew I should have included. Ah well, practice makes one substantially better.
After they got some shots of us riding, we continued on our way. Only had about 7km which was good because the second half of the day always feels so long. By the end of the day I've run out of good music and pleasant thoughts.
so even though it was a short day, it was nice to be at the place we are staying for the night.
Larry was finishing up some work but Art came just after we got there! So he got us all set up and brought his portable electric fence, yes!! Thank goodness he did because there are no 2 trees we could have tied the high line between. It also gives the horses so much more freedom and they can eat all night.

After the horses stuff got done, Katie and Joseph made dinner while I set up the tent. Doing things when hungry though makes everything 10x harder. Good thing we a had a hearty meal to get us through the rest of the night.
Larry let us watch the CTV interview on his tv. It was so weird to see ourselves on Tv! Especially since I just cut my hair off, I didn't feel like that was me. Super strange. But hopefully now that we got some coverage, more people will know about our trip and will donate! It will also help for when we go through busy towns and people are thinking "what the heck are these hill Billy's doing?" Now they will know :)
Well, another day has come and gone. It will become a blur just like every other day has.
Tomorrow will be around 32km so another 6am get up time. Can't wait to get to sunset farms though!!!
