Genevieve's in Mirabel to Nathalie's in Saint-Andre

Stinkin' hot eh? Stinkin' hot mate, down right stinkin'!

Leaving Genevieve's barn in Mirabel.

Ecurie DCGB

It was already hot by 8am that morning, and we had all our packs with us.

We went to Epona Tack Shop to pick up the Easy Boots we had ordered! We were so excited to get our new boots. Luckily they had replaced them no charge (even being out of warranty), saving us over $800! THANK YOU EASY BOOTS. Just as I was taking off Lux's old boots to put on the new ones, the straps broke. It couldn't have come at a better time.

I'd highly recommend Easy boots, especially the Old Mac G2's. We tried the NewMacs, but this older model holds up much better! 64 days of walking!

So clean so fresh!

We finally found relief after trying so many homes and barns for water. No body was home. No one had water. From far away I spotted a coiled hose on the front of a beautiful stone house. Perfectly groomed lawn, a beautiful garden, and a row of trees leading to a quaint and well maintained barn. We walked down the paved driveway and I knocked on the door. Nobody answered but I saw movement through the back window. The water was so close! The horses were so thirsty. I didn't want to just help myself, and when I called out a man appeared around the side of the house.

We explained our situation and he happily led us to the barn. On the way, his wife emerged from the gazebo. She looked so excited to see us. "Where did you guys come from?" She asked me in French. "Nouvelle-Ecose, nous traversion Canada sur notre chevaux." I told her. Immediately her eyes teared up and she excused herself. She was so moved by what we were doing.

It was a special moment, to see our journey have such an effect on us. After letting us settle in for a break, she explained that the past winter she had to put down her two horses. She had had them over 20 years, and you could see it was hard for her to talk about it. There's something about horses, their losses are indiscribable, as they hold a special spot in your heart.

They let us swim in their pool and the horses also got a bath. It was the best part of the day, and helped us carry on for the remainder of the hot day.

We took the long way to our destination, and were happy we did. Empty country roads, a breeze and corn fields. Farmers every where harvesting their hay, and my old iPod from grade 7 with the most rad beats around.

We got into Nathalie's just before dark. We set our tent and got dinner going on the fire. Pierre brought us some ciders and we put all our things in the barn to prepare for the rain ahead that night. Exhausted we crawled into our sleeping bags.
