Today was an unexpected rest day. Right before we fell asleep, I checked the weather for tomorrow and saw it was supposed to rain all day. I figured the weather would either be wrong, or we would still go anyway because we have been on a roll.
We all had a great sleep but of course, woke up to a cold, wet, cloudy morning. Great.. I thought.. going to have to bundle up and just accept my fate of being chilled to the bone.
Before that however, we all quickly got ready for our interview with Heather Hiscox on CBC!! How did we find ourselves on the morning show of CBC? We we're all quite nervous but think it went well. It was short and sweet so we were happy about that!
The horses munched down their breakfast as did we. Annie put together a great meal and just as we were finishing up the rain came pouring down. Even going out to check on the horses, we got a chill. Katie and I started to doubt the fact the we should go today. We figured since Lux still had a slightly swollen ankle, and Ora has her slow healing saddle sores, a rest day wouldn't be bad. We also just rode 70km in 2 days so distance being covered wasn't a problem.
We went back and forth for quite a while. To go or not to go?! Joseph was anxious to get back on the road, and so were Katie and I, we just really weren't up for walking 6 hours in the rain, along with two horses that could most certainly use a day of nothing.
So after some talking, we came to the conclusion that we would never regret taking a day off, but we would regret not taking a day off if it meant having to rest for a week because of a preventable injury.

The day did not go to waste. Sally had seen us on CBC that morning and through the Maritime way, she shortly showed up at the Dickisons with a care package and some t-shirts and baseball caps. So nice!! She then took us on a tour through the Sabian cymbal factory which was so interesting and cool! We saw how cymbals were made from the beginning stage to the end, shipping away stage.
Joseph was very intrigued since he is the most musically diverse in our family. But I too thought it was pretty amazing it took so much work and processing to create one cymbal. Thank you to Sally for your time and the awesome tour!
After we got home from that, the horses got lunch and then Annie drove us so we could get some groceries and much needed shorts. We then came home to another wonderful, filling dinner with some good people. And the chocolate cake was the cherry on the top! ah we are still being so spoiled.
Another positive to taking the day off.. being fully caught up on blog posts! Woohoo!
Now since we WILL stay caught up, look for a blog post tomorrow evening,
J
