Fran & Rich to Kevin Harris

(Wirral to Fredericton Junction)

A new record! We left at 8:45am. After being woken by Fran who told me the horses had gotten the high line down, I went outside to untie them. The bugs were already horrible, so Lux was pretty upset and pacing back and forth. They were both still tied up (thank goodness) but it had come down from the tree. They were angrily eating grass so I hobbled them. We were packing up all our things which somehow always seem to be placed all over the place and property no matter how hard we try and organize, when the horses start going on the road. Jewel’s turn to go out. By the time she gets there she’s chasing them down the quiet road while they hobble-canter away! Luckily Rich ran out and got his truck so he cut them off, and I met Jewel on the road to lead Lux back. So with them all annoyed from the bugs, we got tacked up quickly and left. We also heard it was going to be hot one, so we wanted to beat the heat.

We were happy to have a quieter day (we go a lot faster) but ran into a few kind people who gave us a whole container of salt (Lux gets a lot to keep him hydrated) and some donations. We came to Mac’s Take Out, where we met Mac, who offered to make us a free lunch. Explaining we were vegetarian, he made us fresh house salads and the best potato salad ever, coffee too! Joseph met up just in time to get in on the free lunch, and Mac told us stories of other travelers who had come to his diner. The woman who is walking the entire great Trail was there in March, and get this, a man who is walking AROUND the world! Pretty cool. So he was excited to hear our story and told us his story of the diner.

We got in to Kevin’s around 4pm and were ecstatic to see not one, not two, but THREE baby Clydesdales! They have a Clyde farm, and one of the babies was only 2 days old! SEW MUCH CUTENESS. He let us go in the stall and cuddle them and the little colts would give us kisses when we gave them scratches. We set up our tent in the grass by there house and off to bed we went.
